These volunteers can be recognised by their red jacket uniforms and have been placed at strategic points to help tourists find out more about our area.

  With the World Cup only a stones throw away, Sedibeng came to a standstill, when the solid-gold trophy, one of the most recognisable icons of global sport arrived.  Fresh from its global tour of 86 countries in 225 days, it was now time for the people of Sedibeng to get close to and admire this famous trophy.
Hosted by the Vaal University of Technology, the trophy was welcomed by thousands of people from all corners of Sedibeng.

  With a sense of great pride and excitement, the two stadiums based in the Sedibeng District were officially handed over to the FIFA Local Organising Committee on Saturday 22 May.

The keys to the Isaak Steyl Stadium, located on the campus of the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in Vanderbyl Park, was the first to be officially handed over. This stadium will be the training base for the Swiss soccer team during the FIFA 2010 World Cup.

  There's a new dance revolution taking the country by storm - the 2010 Diski Dance.  South African Tourism is encouraging residents to learn the moves ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™.  The dance is based on the unique way in which South Africans play soccer.

Spearheaded by SA Tourism, the dance was initially developed for an international television advert aimed at highlighting South Africa's readiness to host the World Cup.

  AS the 100-day mark to kick-off approaches and South African preparations for hosting the world’s soccer showcase reach fever pitch, Sedibeng District Municipality is proud to announced that two teams will be using the region as their home base.

The Swiss and Ivory Coast national football teams will both be using Sedibeng as their temporary home during the month-long FIFA World Cup Soccer tournament.

The Swiss will be based at the Emerald Resort and Casino in Vanderbijlpark, commandeering the whole resort.

  Both stadiums will host games with limited capacities on their opening days, news agency Reuters reported.

Cape Towns 70,000-seat stadium sold out the 20,000 tickets put on sale for the citys local derby.

In Polokwane, 30,000 tickets are being sold for a one-day tournament at the 45,000-seat Peter Mokaba Stadium.

After this weekend, only two more World Cup stadiums will have to be completed: Soccer City, host of the opening game and the final in Johannesburg, and Mbombela Stadium, in Nelspruit.
