The Sedibeng District Municipality entered the South African Archives and Records Management Awards (SAARMA) competition for Year 2009, as part of its objectives towards a broad-based participation and promotion of Archives a nd Records Management in terms of the legislation.

To this end, the Sedib eng District Municipality successfully won the national award for being the best municipality in Archives & Records Management for Year 2009. Sedibeng District Municipality encourages the safeguarding and preservation of records of the Council, ensuring that the end users, clusters, departments and the public can access, use and learn from them.

To sustain proper records management within Council, a records management strategy is formulated for every financial year, which is a program to support records management to ensure that the community stays engaged and organisations have access to the ever-growing body of knowledge within the region.
