| District 8 of the Department of Education had its awards ceremony on the 22 January 2010. The achievements of schools, educators and learners in the Sedibeng region were recognised by the department.
The function was attended by the Executive Mayor of Sedibeng, Mahole Simon Mofokeng where he and other dignitaries presented certificates and awards to the winners in their respective categories
Hendrik Terblanche from Driehoek Hoerskool was adjudged the Top Learner with 8 distinctions at an average of 90.2% while the floating shield for the top school was scooped up by Hoerskool Transvalia.
