  Sedibeng presented its last leg of the African Festival with a bang. On the 7th July 2010, the District invited the SABC and the provincial department of arts and culture to celebrate a tribute to our African culture.

This day coincided with the viewing of the first Semi Final of the FIFA World Cup 2010 at the Saul Tsotetsi  Sports Centre in Sebokeng  which was one of the Primary Viewing Sites organised by the Municipality. The African Festival tour kicked off on International Africa Day at Constitutional Square in Vereeniging on the 25 May 2010, then moved on to other areas in the district as part of the Sedibeng 2010 offerings.

The days events featured an assortment of some of the Vaal’s most talented performers who entertained both the young and old. Apart from the musical and dance entertainment the event hosted gifted cooks who treated the guests to exotic dishes from countries such as Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and others.

The SABC also brought along well known TV personalities by the likes of Meshack Mavuso (Isidingo), Zizo Beda (Selimatunzi), Twasa (Jam Alley), Mbali Mlotshwa (Rhythm City) and many others.

The event was also attended by the Gauteng MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Nelisiwe Moerane, The Speaker of Sedibeng Cllr. Kedibone Mogotsi, the Executive Director of  Sport, Arts, Recreation, Culture and Heritage in Sedibeng District Municipality, Morongwe Mazibuko and other councilors from Sedibeng.
