  The Sedibeng Executive Mayor, Cllr. Busisiwe Modisakeng delivered her annual State of the District Address (SoDA) on Wednesday, 04 May 2016 at the Vereeniging Civic Theatre. Under the theme "Going Back to Basics-Restoring our Peoples’ Dignity", her address focused mainly on the municipality’s progress for the past five year term, the briefing covered wide-ranging economic, political, and social matters.  

The address was publicly viewed by the people of Sedibeng through satellite broadcasts around the district. The event was attended by 500 guests at the Vereeniging Civic Theatre. Four (4) satellites were activated and viewed at the Mafatsane Hall in Evaton, Sicelo Multi-purpose Centre in Midvaal, Ratanda Multi-Purpose Centre, and the Lords Signature Hotel in Risiville.

In her speech the Executive Mayor reported on the work of the Sedibeng District Municipality which has since 2007 been organised under the focus areas of the '5R's plus 2' namely, REINVENTING our economy, RENEWING our communities, REVIVING sustainable environment, REINTEGRATING our region, RELEASING human potential, Good Governance and Deepening Democracy.

After her keynote address the Executive awarded title deeds to 16 residents from Kanana near Evaton.
