SEDIBENG STATE OF THE DISTRICT ADDRESS

30.06.07] Executive Mayor, Mlungisi Hlongwane, presented the 2007 State of the Sedibeng District Address to a packed hall at Mphatalatsane Theatre in Sebokeng on 30 May 2007. The huge audience listened attentively while the Mayor outlined the essential aspects of the 2007-2011 IDP and Budget. Present at the Special Council Meeting were several guests including the Sharpeville Survivors who burst into song to mark their recent trip to Cape Town with the Mayor.

In his State of the District Address the Mayor took time to report back on all the promises made in the 2006 address. He then gave a consolidated budget report on the income and expenditure projections of the Sedibeng District and its three local Municipalities, Emfuleni, Midvaal and Lesedi.

Amongst the items that were approved by the Council Meeting were the 2007 Budget, the IDP framework for the next 5 years and the 2004-2005 Audit Report. The Audit report, by invitation of the Speaker, Clr Nelisiwe Mbata-Mtimkulu, was presented to the Council by representative of the Auditor-Generals Office, Mr. Neels Grobbelaar.
