A skydiver flying the SA National Flag lands to the accompaniment of the National Anthem.

Proceedings got underway at 11h00 as a skydiver descended on the main runway flying a huge South African flag. On his decent the South African National Anthem was played over the public address system.

Sedibeng Mayor Mlungisi Hlongwane addressed the crowd and took time to remember Gabriel Ndabandaba, 27 and co-pilot/safety officer Johnny Hattingh, 48, who were tragically killed at the 2005 event.

Executive Mayor Mlungisi Hlongwane does the official welcome from the control tower at the Vereeniging Airport.

Gabriel was South Africa's first black civilian aerobatic pilot. On a more positive note the Executive Mayor expressed the significant role the Vereeniging Airport would play in the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The Mayor concluded by calling on the organizers to work hard for greater integration of our communities in aviation activities. The rest of the day was filled by all sorts of aircraft including solo displays, formations, microlights, model aircraft, parachuting and many more events
