This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Sharpeville Massacre and the Municipality will commemorate the fallen heroes and heroines of this and other such massacres.

Sedibeng District Municipality: Environment Department in collaboration with Emfuleni Local Municipality will be hosting an event for the celebration of the World Wetlands Day to sensitise and encourage the citizens of Emfuleni to be environmentally conscious. Chief amongst the daily activities will be cleaning up of waste, planting of trees and water quality testing activities.
