| Death of one the Treason Trialists: Mr. Jacob Hlanyan |

The Sedibeng District Municipality learnt with deep sadness of the untimely passing on of one of the veterans of the ruling party, the African National Congress in Sedibeng in the person of Mr. Jacob Hlanyane.
Together with South Africa's former Minister of Defence, Mosioua Patrick Lekota and former Premier of our North West Province, Popo Molefe, he was unjustly charged by the apartheid regime in the famous Delmas Trial.
The late Ntate Hlanyane has selflessly served the ruling party, ANC without expecting any payment from it. He is one of the Delmas Treason Trialists, the longest trial in the history of South Africa in 1985 wherein the then Apartheid South Africa wanted to suppress United Democratic Front (UDF) by arresting its leadership.
Some of his 21 co-accused in this trial were: Patrick Mabuya Baleka, Oupa John Hlomoka, Tebogo Geoffrey Moselane, Mohapi Lazarus More, Gcincumuzi Petrus Malindi, Morake Petrus Mokoena, Tsietsi David Mphutil. Naphtali Mbuti Nkopane, Tebello Ephraim Ramakgula, Bavumile Herbert Vilakazi, Sekwati John Mokoena, Mkhambi Amos Malindi, Simon Tseko Nkoli, Pelamotse Jerry Tlhopane, Thomas Madixwe Manthata, Hlabeng Sam Matlole, Maxala Simon Bilakazi, Moses Mabokela Chikane, Thabiso Andrew Ratsomo.
He will be buried on Saturday the 28th January 2012 in Zone 3 Sebokeng and the service will start at 07:00 and the cortege will leave shortly before 09:00.
His memorial service will be held on Thursday the 26th January 2012 (Time will be provided later)

Media Invitation to the celebration of the 15th Anniversary of the signing of the South African Constitution in Sharpeville
The 10th of December 2011 will mark the 15th Anniversary of the signing of the South African Constitution into law - by the then President of South Africa, Mr. Nelson Mandela, in Sharpeville.
The celebrations which will be held in Sharpeville - will coincide with the official opening of the newly refurbished and reconstructed Sharpeville Hall – which has retained its historical features resembling the Sharpeville Hall of the 1960s.
The opening of the hall is in line with our continued commitment to Renewing Our Communities, Releasing Human Potential and building a better for life all.
Opening the newly constructed hall will be a delegation led by the Executive Mayor of the Sedibeng District Municipality Councillor Mahole Simon Mofokeng, Gauteng Premier Ms Nomvula Mokonyane, and the Public Protector: Advocate Thuli Madonsela.
It is in this regard that the Executive Mayor of the Sedibeng District Municipality - invites members of the media to this historic event – and to be part of the outreach programme during the day when the Executive Mayor will be handing-over clothes to beneficiaries in settlements such as Khayelitsha, Tshepong, Boiketlong and Sharpeville. The outreach programme will start at 09:00 in Khayelitsha, Kliprivier.
The celebrations will end with a gala dinner to be held on:
