Sedibeng 2010 Strategy Launched

[08.08.07] A packed Vereeniging Civic Theatre listened attentively to the Sedibeng District Municipality present its 2010 Strategy.

The audience was welcomed by District Mayor Mlungisi Hlongwane after which SAFA President Molefi Olifant inspired the crowd with his thoughts on the tremendous opportunities that 2010 could bring to the people of Sedibeng.The Sedibeng Municipal Manager, Ms. Lisa Seftel presented details of the 2010 Strategy which focuses on 4 primary areas: Urban Development, Tourism Promotion, Soccer Development and Safety & Security Promotion. Ivor Hoff of the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts & Culture also presented the provincial support for the local strategy.

The MC for the day, Clr. Johnny Tsotetsi, directed the information filled programme and allowed some moments of relaxation as a local ball juggling artist thrilled the crowd with his football antics. A group of Bafana Bafana cheerleaders also provided some song and dance, a feature that will no doubt be prominent during South Africa’s hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The launch ended with delegates volunteering and registering for the 5 Working Groups that will follow through with the implementation of the ambitious strategy until 2010.
