Executive Mayor, Cllr. Lerato Maloka Conducts Oversight Visit at the Vereeniging Taxi Rank

The Executive Mayor of Sedibeng District Municipality, Cllr Lerato Maloka, together with Ward 15 Cllr Prudence Hlanyane and staff from the Executive Mayor’s office and the Department of Roads and Infrastructure department conducted an oversight visit at the Vereeniging Taxi Rank (Taxido Junction) on Thursday to check on the status and completion of the facility.

The Vereeniging Taxi Rank is set for a significant transformation with a complete rebuild aimed at enhancing safety and convenience for all users.

This oversight visit was to oversee the project’s progress and ensure it meets the community’s needs.

The key features of the new taxi rank will include Safe Structures, Updated Stalls, Modern Toilets, Fresh Roofing, Paved Roads, Workshop and Car Wash Facilities, the facility will also be equipped with CCTV cameras, this is to ensure the safety of both the public and vendors.

This initiative reflects the municipality’s commitment to improving public transport infrastructure and ensuring a better service for its residence.

Although the official opening date has not yet been announced, the new contractors, who began work on the project in 2024, aim for the project to be completed before the end of 2025.

The Sedibeng District Municipality prioritises to ensure smooth operations through collaboration and engagement between the municipality, taxi owners, and the Taxi Association.
