PETER KELE RECOGNISED FOR SUSTAINED EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNITY SAFETY

The Sedibeng District Municipality congratulates Mr Peter Kele, Assistant Manager: Crime Prevention in the Community Safety Department, on his continued recognition for leadership and commitment to community safety in the district.

Mr Kele has received a Sedibeng District Excellence Award for four consecutive years:

  • 2022/2023 – Best District Commissioner Special Award
  • 2023/2024 – Best Social Crime Prevention Stakeholder
  • 2024/2025 – Best Shanela Operation Stakeholder
  • 2025/2026 – Best District Commissioner Special Award

He has also been recognised by the South African Police Service (SAPS), including through the SAPS Sedibeng District Commissioner's Special Awards and the Most Involved Stakeholder of the Year accolade, as well as the 2023 and 2024 VUT Community Engagement Awards.

Mr Kele chairs the Sedibeng Community Safety Forum, recognised as a top-performing Intergovernmental Relations structure within Gauteng's JCPS Cluster. His work spans GBVF response, school safety and social crime prevention, including School Safety Cycle Tour campaigns and human trafficking prevention initiatives, contributing to Sedibeng District's SALGA Award on 22 August 2024 for its Rapid Response Teams on the GBV Programme.

Most recently, Executive Mayor Cllr. Lerato Maloka presented Mr Kele with an award during a Council meeting, in further recognition of his contribution to community safety across the district.

He was also honoured as a recipient of the 6th Annual Men of Valour Award Gauteng.

The Municipality commends Mr Kele for strengthening cooperation between the Municipality, SAPS, government departments and community stakeholders, and congratulates him on his continued contribution to safer communities.
