The Executive Mayor delivers the State of the District address in Boipatong. |
The event kicked-off with an early morning visit to the resting place of the fallen heroes and heroines of Boipatong. The event culminated in a massively attended state of the district address by the executive mayor Mahole Mofokeng at the stadium.
With the arts MMC Neville Felix managing the program which was interspersed with cultural acts by the artists, he constantly reminded the audience that the event happens at the time when the country is hosting various countries here for the FIFA confederations cup tournament. Read

| Sedibeng takes learner to school |

The Sedibeng District Municipality celebrated Africa Day – May 25 – in style this year by hosting nineteen "freedom children" at its offices. The 1994-born children are all learners from various schools in the district invited by the Office of the Speaker to kick-start a popular "Take a learner to work" campaign.
With a break-fast served and an intensive prior briefings on the political make-up of the municipality inside an exquisite council chamber boardroom by stakeholder manager in the office of the speaker, Thomas Maleka, the young ones left for visits to various departments within the district. Read

| Unique soccer foundation launched in Sedibeng |

It is now official, the South African chapter of the Aaron Mokoena Foundation is up and running. Initiated by Aaron Mokoena himself, the foundation is aimed at developing the the standard of football in the region.
Prior to the glittering launch at the Emerald Casino in Vanderbijlpark, the aspirant soccer-stars and their coaches converged for a soccer clinic at the Boipatong stadium.
The Boipatong township is the birth-place of the man of the moment and also the SA national team captain, Aaron Mokoena. Read

| Sedibeng District Municipality EMS Department brings a bliss to Samanco Children and the Staff |

Amid a chilling winter cold, members of the Sebokeng-based Emergency Municipal Services (EMS) gave a sigh of bliss to the HIV-aids-infected children at the Kotulong Centre, formerly Samanco centre.
The centre was started at the Sebokeng EMS by Mathapelo Mokoena, an HIV-Aids positive person and also peer-educator about the disease. While educating the children on on first aid she discovered the unsatisfactory conditions faced by people, particularly children living with HIV. Read

 A surprise visit to emergency services to entrench the principals of Public Service. |
While some staff at the Sedibeng District Municipality joined millions around the world in celebration of the actual day, Public Service Day on June 23, the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon congratulated this year's winners of the United Nations Public Service Awards in New York.
This year's winners are from Canada, South Korea, Sweden, Zambia, South Africa, Thailand, Slovenia, Egypt, Oman, India and Poland.
Speaking at the award ceremony, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said this year's winners and finalists show that public services can be delivered more efficiently, effectively and equitably all over the world.
Back home, the department of public service and administration is not resting on its laurels. It selected the Gauteng province as the "hub" for the Africa Public Service Day (APSD) in the city of Tshwane.
Other provinces joined via a satellite link-up on a DSTV channel with a large screen set-up and viewed by public servants and the public they serve. The events in Tshwane continue for the rest of this week.
Meanwhile staff here at Sedibeng made full use of the day to drive forward calls for service delivery.
Led by the Batho-Pele co-ordinator Naomi Jones as well as a manager in the human resources department, Jan Wessels, a team of Sedibeng staff from both the Lesedi and the Sedibeng District Municipality observed the internationally recognised day. Full story...
| Young Sedibenger off to the Baltic region |
The next month will be one of the most memorable in the life of a young David Basson. Apart from turning thirteen on day one of that month, this Vryheids Monument scholar jets-off for the boating-championships held in the almost land-locked Baltic sea region in July.

MMC for health and community safety Cllr Tsokolibane. |
The Sedibeng Health department held its district-wide Health Summit at the Quest Conference centre in Vanderbijlpark recently. Held annually, the regional summit evolves from a similar provincial health summit held by the Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH).
Opening the summit, MMC for health and community safety Cllr Tsokolibane gave a brief socio-economic overview of the region, Sedibeng.
According to her, the population currently stands close to a million, at 918 325 people, with almost half (43 percent) of the economically-active population being unemployed.
The majority of the people in the region, over eighty percent, reside at Emfuleni and the rest is scattered in the predominantly farmlands of Lesedi and the Midvaal locals. Access to water, sanitation and waste removal is all above 97 percent across the region. Read
